The preparation design for this case was as follows: All ceramic crown preparation was applied to teeth #1.2,1.1,2.1,2.2 with 0.6 mm axial reduction and rounded shoulder marginal finish line. A laminate veneer preparation was applied to teeth 1.3, 2.3. Initially the intention was to use IPS Empress restorations for this case, however, after examining the amount of labial reduction on teeth 1.3, 2.3 with a putty matrix of the diagnostic wax-up, the better choice of material for the restorations was feldspathic veneering porcelain applied utilizing the refractory die technique. The reason for changing the choice of materials was not adequate amount of tooth reduction to utilize IPS Empress material in compliance to the manufacture specifications on minimum thickness of the restorations. Subsequently, the same decision was passed on to teeth 1.2, 1.1, 2.1, 2.2 as to type of material to be used in order to accomplish desirable match.
