Dental Ceramist

Scope and Nature of the Function:
A dental ceramist will do the following:
bullet Review prescriptions and determine work processes;
bullet Take ownership of a case from the pre-operative stage, articulate pre-operative models, design diagnostic wax-up, fabricate matrices of the wax-up models and replicate them in porcelain with a usage of inner and outer tooth anatomy;
bullet Fabricate jacket crowns, or veneers, including porcelain fused to metal;
bullet Operate and perform user maintenance for porcelain furnace and other ceramic equipment;
bullet Use a knowledge of the physics of light for proper shading and development of hues and shades of duplicate natural tooth colors, including staining, simulated fillings, fissures, and other abnormalities;
bullet Select and match correct shade of teeth.

A perfect candidate should have ability to handle multiple dental projects simultaneously as well as to take ownership of various tasks and drive them through to completion.

The position requires good dexterity skills as well as eye for details. Artistic skills are important.

Key Responsibilities:
 
bullet Fabricating metal free restorations
bullet Planning and fabricating 3 dimensional models of teeth out of wax
bullet Assisting the master technician in all other dental tasks

Qualifications:

bullet Artistic skills required.
bullet Must display initiative, demonstrate solid interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
bullet Highly motivated and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations/challenges.
bullet Ability to work independently without supervision.
bullet Positive, constructive and caring for others
